"Heritage:
Exploring Peru's Ancient Surf" documentary film is wrapped
with production and will release in several years featuring a
journey of discovery into the world of our surfing past dating
back some 3,000 to 4,000 BC, two civilizations prior to the Incas,
predating the currently recognized ancient surf culture of Polynesia.
Interviews with legendary waterman, big wave surfer and 1965 World
Surfing Champion, Felipe Pomar, the one time National Geographic's
recognized worlds most adventurous person, Olav Heyerdahl, highly
ranked Peruvian Navy Officer Capitán de Fragata John Rodríguez
Asti, Peruvian Surf Historian Fortunato Quesada, and three of
the top Peruvian Surfers, Claudio Balducci, Gabriel Aramburu and
Gonzalo Velasco. The film will show a unique surfing event in
which ancient surf craft are utilized, archeological artifacts
exemplifying ancient surfing, theories past and present, lifestyle
and modern day surfing found on the coastline of one of the worlds
most mystical and enigmatic geographic locations on our planet.
Very little is known about Peru's ancient surf cultures and this
film will help answer some questions and raise new ones as we
look deeper into our surfing heritage while exploring the roots
