9'6" 2+1 (widow maker) fin set up, Pin tail shaped by Hank Warner.
One Father's Day I decided to get an 6'10" epoxy fish. Got the fish. Took it on an exploritory surf mission to Pavones. It was light and small, the perfect tool for the trip. It was unreal on the big swell which hit while there but upon returning home I realised it'd be collecting too much dust from the lack of surf back home in the Gulf of Mexico. So back it went to the shop where I picked it up. I knew I wanted a small board in my quiver but still have it have enough float. After going through the racks I found a 9'0" 2+1 (widow maker) fin set up, High Performance, Diamond Tail Longboard by Harbour Surfboards. It looked like a speed needle which attracted me to it. I immediately took it out and loved how responsive it was in the nearby pitching sand bar waves. I was
hooked. Sure the board doesn't see much action here but it has been to Costa Rica where it performed ok on the fat reef breaks. A trip to the Dominican Republic showed how well the board shines in their fast reef waves where I was able to get several good back side snaps within the span of one wave. During the Hurricane Florence swell which hit Florida's East Coast I took it out in double overhead bombs. When I made the first drop, the board stuck like glue and linked the sections with ease. Nice. Seeing I'm usually riding my classic style log it was interesting to see how much different you can surf simply by switching wave riding vehicles. I ride the board as a 2+1, that's it. The board is a wave specific tool and so comes out to play on special days. >
